The public health association of medical students and the Vestfjörður Health Foundation opened a teddy bear hospital for the first time on Saturday, November 26! A flood of children brought sick or injured teddy bears that needed care. The problems were varied; one had calluses in his toes and another lost the bones in his neck, for example. An attempt was made to cure most of the problems with splints, bandages, plasters, kisses and instructions for exercise and good rest.

The purpose of the teddy bear hospital is two-fold: on the one hand, to prevent children's fear of doctors and medical staff, and on the other hand, to give medical students the opportunity to practice communicating with children.

We would like to end by thanking the supporters, the medical staff who participated and all the children who came.
