Starting on Tuesday, November 29, a musculoskeletal reception by a physiotherapist will be offered at the health care center in Ísafjörður. You can then make an appointment and get an examination and advice from a paramedic for pain from the musculoskeletal system, for example symptoms from the back, knees and shoulders. The main goal is to prevent the worsening of symptoms and to start recovery as soon as possible.

The physiotherapist primarily provides education and advice in the form of self-help such as exercises, rest positions, taping, working postures or self-treatment in the form of heat and cold therapy, soft tissue therapy or other.

If the physiotherapist at the musculoskeletal clinic considers the case to be of such a nature, he can write a request for physiotherapy and refer the individual to treatment by a physiotherapist outside the healthcare facility.

If the physiotherapist of the musculoskeletal clinic believes that a person seeking a musculoskeletal clinic needs a medical examination or imaging tests, they will be referred to a doctor.

After arrival at the musculoskeletal reception, follow-up is provided in the form of a phone call, usually 2-3 weeks after arrival at the physiotherapist.

The musculoskeletal reception is open:
Tuesdays at 8:00 – 11:00
Wednesdays at 13:00-15:00
Fridays at 8:00 – 11:00
Appointments can be made through reception at 450-4500.
The musculoskeletal reception staff is Ólafur Halldórsson, a physiotherapist.
