Helgi Sigmundsson, an expert in medicine and digestive diseases, has arrived to work at the Ísafjarðarbær Health Institute. He completed his studies at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Iceland in 1993 and after that worked at Landsspítala/University Hospital and St. Jósefsspítala until 1996, when he moved here to the west. He stayed here until June 1998, when he moved to the United States, specifically to Iowa City, Iowa, where he studied medicine. Upon completion in June 2001, he headed to Cleveland where he studied gastroenterology at Cleveland University Hospitals/Case Western Reserve University.
