Symptom test and quick test
If you have flu-like symptoms, you can now book a sampling at Heilsuvera.is every day of the week. You can also book a quick test there for big events. Enter the My pages and select Covid-19 in the menu on the left. Ísafjörður and Patreksfjörður are now among the sampling locations that can be selected. Those who are asymptomatic in quarantine or aseptic will receive an invitation automatically and do not need to book an appointment.
Follow instructions and do not enter the hospitals. See attached picture for location. Come by car, bike or on foot. The samples are taken at Ísafjörður every weekday at 13:00 (PCR) and 13:30 (rapid test) but at 8:30 on Saturdays. At Patreksfjörður, samples are taken on weekdays at 10:00 (PCR) and 10:15 (rapid test) but on Wednesdays at 9:00 (PCR) and 9:15 (rapid test). Sampling on weekends is carried out if the doctor deems it necessary after a call through 1700.
Certificate for travel abroad
Many countries require a certificate of a negative Covid sample upon arrival in the country. These tests are not considered an epidemic prevention measure and are therefore not carried out in the Westfjords. These tests are available in Reykjavík, but the Safety Center's rapid test is especially recommended. See the website of the Security Center (oryggi.is) and travel.covid.is.
