On June 1, 2004, three new midwives, Ásthildur Gestsdóttir, Brynja Pála Helgadóttir and Halldóra Karlsdóttir, started working at the institute after a study permit.

Four midwives now work as a team in maternal care, birth care and infant monitoring here in Ísafjörður, in addition to maternal care and infant monitoring in Suðureyri and Súðavík.

With this increase in the number of midwives, there were considerable changes in their working arrangements, and they now work both in the health center and in the maternity ward, but before these were completely separate jobs.

Recently, several women have come from the southern part of the Westfjords to have their children here, and that is a source of joy.
In the picture you can see Halldóra Karlsdóttir, Ásthildi Gestsdóttir, Margréti Ásdísi Bjarnardóttir and Brynja Pála Helgadóttir.
