The infirmary is at the hospital in Ísafjörður. The department used to be called the emergency department, and sometimes the inpatient department. The department has 15 rooms and provides a wide range of services for all general illnesses.
General visiting hours are from 15:00–16:00 and 19:00–20:00 every day of the week.
Walking Department: The department administers various complex drugs, especially cancer drugs, but also drugs for multiple sclerosis and other diseases where the administration of drugs is complex and requires supervision.
Hemodialysis: Hemodialysis is performed in the department for patients with reduced kidney function.
Rest and rehabilitation admissions: In cooperation with the home nursing department and the rehabilitation department, rest and rehabilitation admissions are offered for people who live independently but need additional services.
The head of the department is Þórunn Pálsdóttir and Sara Guðmundsdóttir is assistant department head.
