People are good at coming for sampling and we want it to continue. Our procedures are always changing as this gets more practice and the epidemic progresses.
This information applies to both Ísafjörður and Patreksfjörður, but residents in the surrounding areas need to get to one of these stations.
Sampling protocol
Individuals with symptoms should call the health center to register for sampling. It is best to call during working hours from 08:00 to 16:00 at 450-4500. Patreksfirðingar can also call 450-2000. If a person develops symptoms after 16:00 on weekdays or over the weekend, you can order a sample by calling the emergency department in Ísafjörður at 450-4565.
Individuals who need to undergo a second border screening or sampling after being in quarantine for 7 days, are asked to book an appointment during daytime hours on weekdays by calling the health care.
When you come
It is good to come by car, but it is also okay to come by bike or on foot. Sampling is always outdoors, everyone must wait outside and it is absolutely forbidden to enter the clinics or hospitals on the way to or from sampling.
At Patreksfjörður, the sampling is in the basement where the ambulances are. In Ísafjörður, a white container has been installed by the parking lot at the hospital.
In general
Individuals awaiting a sample or test result must be isolated until negative results are available. We treat everyone during sampling as if you are infected, and you should behave accordingly.
Everyone who orders a sampling will receive an SMS with information on where and when to attend. Results are received on my pages on Heilsuveru, but those who test positive receive information about the result by phone. Those who do not have Heilsuveru will receive information by phone, regardless of the result.
