On March 12, 2014, the founding meeting of the Norwegian Nursing Council was held. The Nursing Council and the Medical Council are professional councils mentioned in Article 15. Act on Health Services no. 40/2007. All nurses who work at HV and have been there for 3 months or more sit in the nursing council.
The role of the HV Nursing Council is to:
- Contribute to the fact that nursing is always based on current laws, regulations and ethics in accordance with the policy and goals of nursing at HV.
- Be a professional and advisory body regarding issues related to nursing and midwifery at HV, as well as operation, management, structure and utilization of the hospital and health care.
- Be an advisory platform for nurses, midwives and HV managers.
- Take the initiative and be a forum for professional discussions about nursing.
- Encourage development work by strengthening clinical research in nursing and connections with educational institutions in health sciences.
- Consider and/or comment on matters referred to the council.
