From September 27 to 30, screening for breast cancer will take place at the health center in Ísafjörður and from October 4 to 5 at the health center in Patreksfjörður.

The women who have received a letter about coming for screening are asked to make an appointment by phone 513-6700 between 8:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. every weekday.

You can also send an email to kankó

PLEASE NOTE that appointments are not accepted at the health centers.

On website of the Coordination Center for Cancer Screening is to find more information about screenings and on website of the Office of the National Medical Examiner are brochures on both cervical and breast screenings in several languages.

By participating in breast screening, it is possible to detect breast cancer at an early stage and thus significantly reduce the death rate due to the disease.

It is important to realize, however, that screening is never 100% safe in detecting breast cancer at an early stage.
