On Tuesday, August 20, a donation will be delivered to the Hospital in Patreksfjörður, where a variety of new devices, equipment and supplies or ten hospital beds will be delivered along with accessories, an ultrasound device, an angioscope, a vital sign monitor, a syringe pump, an oxygen filter, an air mattress, a suction pump and a TNT heart monitor. Donors are the Vestur-Barðastrandar County Health Foundation Foundation, the Women's Association Sif and the Accident Prevention Department Unnur, both in Patreksfjörður. The value of the gifts is over 11 million ISK.

The Vestur-Barðastrandar County Health Foundation's Endowment Fund is a death gift of Einar B. Bjarnason from Hreggstaður, and the fund has been operating according to its charter since 1992 with the aim of:

"..to promote and strengthen health services in Vestur-Barðastrandar County at Patreksfjörður Hospital, Patreksfjörður Infirmary, Bíldudal Infirmary and other health institutions or health activities that may be established in the county, through the purchase of equipment or in other ways.”
