We are always looking for ways to improve the service. A big part of this is to increase the participation of professionals from various health disciplines in health care services. This gives doctors more time to do what they do best, improving and speeding up service.
For several years, we have had a nursing shift that shows the way, handles cases on the same day without having to wait for a doctor's appointment, but calls a doctor if needed.
Earlier this winter, we also started with a physiotherapist's musculoskeletal reception at the health care center, and it has been successful. There, people can book an appointment, get an examination, advice and, depending on the case, a request for physical therapy.
Three different durations of medical appointments
Now we want to step away from the framework set by the fixed duration of medical interviews and adapt the duration to the needs of the clients. That's why we now want to try having three types of medical appointments. The receptionists decide, on the basis of a brief description of the reason for the visit, what kind of time is most suitable.
Rush hour, 10 minutes: This time is for urgent matters, for example rashes, driver's license, earache.
Standard medical appointment, 20 minutes: All general medical services.
Longer time, 40 minutes: For assignments that take longer, for example large certificates (rehabilitation certificates), spiritual matters and interviews with people with complex illnesses and/or long medication lists.
Therefore, the reason for the visit must be given
For this reason, our receptionists will now ask for the reason for arrival in order to be able to give our clients a suitable appointment. There is no need to go into personal or detailed explanations, but only state the reason for the visit, eg pain in the leg, mental well-being, a cold or the need for a certain type of certificate.
Of course, the utmost confidentiality is maintained hereafter as until now.
