Influenza vaccinations start on October 1st. but they end on November 30.

Vaccination will take place at the Torfnes Health Center in Ísafjörður and is open every weekday at 14:30 to 15:30. Vaccination will take place at other health centers (Bolungarvík, Flateyri, Suðureyri, Súðavík and Þingeyri) during their opening hours. You have to make an appointment there so that the amount of vaccine is known each time.

Vaccination is also done at the health center in Patreksfjörður. It is better to book an appointment there and get an appointment the same day. Vaccinations are not specifically offered in Bíldudal and Tálknafjörður, but those who do not have vaccinations at home should contact the health care and then a solution will be found.

Everyone who gets vaccinated has to pay an entrance fee to the health center, but people aged 60 and over, and those who belong to the following risk groups, get the vaccine free of charge. Remember to present your discount and/or disability certificate upon arrival.

In particular, an epidemiologist recommends that the following risk groups receive priority for vaccinations:

- persons aged 60 and over

– persons with chronic heart, lung, kidney and liver diseases, diabetes, malignant diseases and other immunosuppressive diseases.

– healthcare professionals who care for patients in the risk groups above.

– pregnant women
