On March 26th, the Health Foundation received a generous gift from Margrétar Leósdóttir's Memorial Fund, which was founded by Margrétar's husband, Jóhann heitinn Júlíusson, in memory of his wife. The fund has many times brought gifts to the organization and supported its employees.

This time, Kristján G. Jóhannsson, their son, Inga S. Ólafsdóttir, his wife and Jónína Högnadóttir, Margrétar and Jóhann's foster daughter, came and presented the HV inpatient wards with two very high-quality, air-operated CuroCell SAM hospital bed mattresses for the prevention of bedsores and two Völker multi-purpose wheelchairs for patients.

Pressure ulcers are a complication of heavy bed rest. It can be difficult to prevent them and extremely difficult to heal the wounds. Good air mattresses, where constant air exchange occurs in a number of small chambers, are essential to protect against them to any avail. The inpatient staff are thrilled to have received the mattresses.

Patients often have difficulty with activities of daily living lying in bed, in wheelchairs, or with all kinds of bandages, cables and tubes on them. Good bicycle tables, which can be raised, lowered and tilted in various ways, come in handy. They facilitate personal hygiene, eating, reading, computer use, grooming and so on.

Sigrún C. Halldórsdóttir, remote affairs director and deputy director, thanked for the gifts and invited those present to enjoy refreshments.

On this occasion, Inga and Kristján Jónína Högnadóttir were presented with a bouquet of flowers for their exceptional dedication to the memorial fund, but she is in charge of the sale of memorial cards, which is the foundation of the fund's income.

At the moment, 100 years have passed since the birth of Jóhann Júliusson. Presented by Kristján G. Jóhannsson on the occasion of the publication of a book he has written about the lives of his parents and ancestors. The book is called ?Vertinn og kaupmannsdóttirin? and is decorated with a number of funny pictures from their training and life's work.
