New rules entered into force on March 25, 2021. Below are the main ones

1.       In general

Considerable changes have been made to our procedures to reduce the risk of infection, but we believe that almost all general health services can be provided. It requires that everyone who comes to the institution, as patients, visitors or employees, does everything with care.

Do not come to the institute if you are

  • in isolation or quarantine
  • waiting for the results of the sampling
  • with flu-like symptoms (see below), or
  • was abroad less than 14 days ago (however, see below about border screening)

2. Bcouncil and nursing home

About visits to emergency department on Ísafjörður applies that alone a guest can come during the day, but two at the nursing homes Eyri, Berg, Tjörn and at Patreksfjörður.

These guests are allowed to vary between days. Now, however, the change has been made that visitors under the age of 18 are not allowed. This new rule takes into account the fact that the variant of the virus that is currently circulating also affects children.

We remind you to wash your hands, spray and wear a mask. Do not come if there is the slightest suspicion of infection. Visitors go directly to the person's room and do not interact with other residents.

Residents of nursing homes can continue to leave their homes and go for car rides, as long as they are in contact with the same relatives who come to visit them.

3.       Border screening

The second border screening tests take place at Ísafjörður and Patreksfjörður. The health centers provide more information, preferably by phone at 450-4500 during working hours, 450-4565 outside of working hours.

4.       General sampling, including during Easter

Don't be shy about coming in for a sample if you feel the slightest of symptoms. It's free. We take samples at Ísafjörður and Patreksfjörður, every day, also over Easter as needed. If you have any of the following symptoms, come in for a sample as soon as possible: cold, sore throat, cough, fever, bone pain, decreased taste/sense of smell, come in for a sample. Arrival must be announced by calling the reception desk, and then you will receive more detailed information about the time, place and arrangements. Call 450-4500 during business hours, 450-4565 after hours.
