A hemodialysis machine is now in use at the emergency department of the Hospital in Ísfjörður. Two nurses from the institute went and worked at Landspítala's hemodialysis unit for two weeks and attended training on how to use the machine. The first client has already arrived for hemodialysis in the emergency department. A young Icelandic citizen, who has had to stay in a hospital hotel in Reykjavík for almost two months, now receives this vital service here in his hometown.

The Vestfjörður Health Institute has entered into an agreement with Landsspítala for cooperation on hemodialysis. That contract was signed this weekend when the device was put into use at the Hospital in Ísafjörður.
