The Vestfjörður Institute of Health is advertising for applications for two positions of psychologists at the institution's healthcare. Mental health services are being strengthened in the spirit of the Ministry of Welfare's Mental Health Plan until 2020. It is desirable that the relevant psychologists can start work as soon as possible, or according to an agreement.

 

There are two positions in the 75% employment ratio, on the one hand for diagnosis and treatment of children and young people up to the age of 18, and on the other hand for adults from the age of 18. Both work according to priorities according to the nature of problems and illnesses. Prioritization takes into account the local conditions and is made in collaboration with the mental health team of the health care. The main office is at the Health Center in Ísafjörður, but it is expected that a psychologist will be available for 2-3 days each month at the Health Center in Patreksfjörður, as the working psychologists take turns.

Facilities are offered for the relevant psychologists to carry out independent clinical reception in 20% work.

 

Main subjects and responsibilities:

  • Psychologists work in close cooperation with the doctors and nurses of the health care, as well as with schools and social services in the respective area. There is also a lot of cooperation with the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Department of the National Hospital.
  • A referral from a doctor is a requirement for the services of a psychologist.
  • The job includes receiving patients at the health center in Ísafjörður and Patreksfjörður.
  • Works independently and in a multidisciplinary team with patients and in the development of mental health services in the Westfjords.
  • The next superior is the chief physician of health care.

Education and qualification requirements:

  • Have completed clinical studies in psychology and have a work permit from the Office of the National Medical Examiner.
  • Have knowledge and experience of evidence-based methods.
  • Have experience in diagnosing and treating both children and adults with mental health problems.
  • The person must have very good communication skills, be positive and show respect to others in every respect.
  • Have the interest, ability and professional ambition to both work independently and in a team.
  • Have good general computer skills.
  • Icelandic language skills are a requirement
  • Are interested in the development and structure of the Vestfjörður Health Institute

Salaries are according to the current collective agreement between the Minister of Finance and the Icelandic Psychological Association and the institutional agreement of the Vestfjörður Health Foundation.
