The Vestfjörður Disabled People's Association recently delivered a dental cart that will be located at the operating room of the Vestfjörður Health Foundation in Ísafjörður.
Many people with disabilities need to be sedated in order to receive dental treatment. It therefore has to happen in an operating room, but then the dentists' specialized equipment must be available. The trolley has connections for drilling, water and compressed air. There are now two dentists working in the area, Viðar Konráðsson in Ísafjörður and Katrín Ugla Kristjánsdóttir in Bolungarvík. They, as well as other dentists who wish, are free to use the trolley in consultation with the surgery and accident department of the health institution.
In the picture, nurse anesthetist Sara Guðmundsdóttir accepts the device from Þuríði Sigurðardóttir, Árnýja Björga Halldórsdóttir and Gerðu Helga Pétursdóttir.
