Minister of Health Alma Möller has allocated 77 million ISK for equipment purchases at health institutions in rural areas, and of that amount, the Westfjords Health Institute will receive a grant of 26 million ISK for equipment purchases. The grant

The funding is divided between four urgent projects:

Revenue 9 million ISK

Three monitors 7 million ISK.

Support equipment in Ísafjörður and Patreksfjörður 7 m.kr.

Anesthesia table with 2 blades (videoscope) 3 m.kr.

The allocation of funds is based on prioritization in accordance with the most urgent needs of the institutions. In many places, there is an accumulated infrastructure debt that must be met in order to strengthen the institutions' response capacity, ensure quality of service and patient safety, improve diagnostic and treatment capacity, and promote more efficient operations. 

This equipment is important for strengthening response capacity, ensuring quality of service and patient safety. It is very gratifying that such support is going where it is truly needed and that healthcare institutions in many rural areas are being shown this effort to upgrade important equipment.
