The Accident and Outpatient Department is located at the hospital in Ísafjörður, on the 1st floor of the west wing, the entrance is on the right from the lobby. There are four permanent employees of the department and they are also employees of the surgery department. The department has an emergency room, a changing room, an interview room, as well as a driveway for ambulances, storage for group accident equipment and other emergency equipment. The hospital's ultrasound machine is located in the changing room. It is mainly used by the clinic, but also by visiting specialists.
The accident department deals with all emergency cases and is also used as an outpatient department for surgery and for returns after accidents.
Opening hours of the accident and outpatient department
The accident department is open 24 hours a day. Doctors and nurses are available every weekday from 08:00-16:00, but are on call outside working hours.
The walking department is open on Tuesdays and Fridays from 10:00-12:00.
