At the end of last month, an electronic process was launched at the National Health Service, which corrected the registrations of individuals at health centers. All Icelanders are registered at a health center in their district, but there have been cases where that registration was not available, so efforts were made to correct it on a national level. Such registration is necessary because now the number of clients at a health center will be linked to some extent with donations to it. It is therefore important that this registration is correct.

By now this registration should be pretty close, but everyone needs to make sure they are registered at the right clinic. To do that, you need to go to the web and enter the URL www.sjukra.is but it is the website of the Icelandic Health Insurance Agency. Then you have to log in to the client's rights portal, which can be found on the front page. In order to be able to log in there, the person must have an electronic ID. Here is a link to instructions on whether people are registered for the right health care (in their district/nearby legal domicile) and how to change that registration if necessary.

The health care staff in Ísafjörður have already put a lot of effort into registering people at health centers in their hometowns, but there is always room for improvement. We therefore ask our clients to verify this registration. It must be mentioned that it is now increasingly common for information about many things that affect us, including our health, to be in electronic form. To access them, for example the aforementioned and also basic information from our medical records on www.heilsuvera.is to name a few, people must have an electronic ID. Everyone is therefore encouraged to find out about such credentials, but it can be done, for example, at one's commercial bank.
