Organizational changes have been announced at the Vestfjörður Health Institute's facility in Patreksfjörður. The changes include a strengthening of the organization's management and aim to ensure support for staff and increase the effectiveness of quality work and improvement. The changes include both an emphasis on increased independence of the establishment, but at the same time better integration with the organization as a whole.

Patreksfjörður has a hospital with 2 hospital rooms and 11 nursing rooms, a health center, a rehabilitation center and ambulances. The activities merged into the Vestfjörður Health Institute in 2014.

New management

A new management board will be created in the changes. The head of nursing, who until now has been the main manager of the establishment, will be the chairman of the operational board. It consists of three other managers; department head of the inpatient ward, operations manager and health care project manager.

The department head of the inpatient ward and the project manager of health care will be staffed by nurses who are transferred to work. The position of head of the operations department is new, which includes cleaning, laundry, kitchen, secretaries and management of purchases and real estate.

The head of nursing is the representative of the establishment in the executive board of the organization as a whole. Other members of the executive board have the right to sit in the meetings of the management board, but otherwise the management board is intended to be independent and handle all day-to-day operations.

The two department heads will now attend bi-monthly management meetings of the entire organization. Until now, only one representative from Patreksfjörður has sat in various management meetings, and the activities are therefore further integrated with these changes.

Changes for the better

This year, the Vestfjörður Institute of Health was the largest organization that rose the most year-on-year in the organization of the year survey.. The institution is now among the highest health institutions. In particular, the organization rose when it came to management, morale, organizational image, satisfaction and pride.

The organizational changes are part of a larger project that is precisely related to the strengthening of management. This emphasis has parallels in both the state's new management policy and the health policy until 2030. This aims for increased quality for clients, improved working conditions and the impetus for continuous improvement.

Two ads

Two job advertisements have been published. On the one hand, the position of an operations manager will be advertised, and on the other hand, the position of a general nurse who will perform duties in the inpatient department and health care. The advertisements can be found at Starfatorgi.
