On Thursday, August 30, the Vestfjörður Health Institute in Ísafjörður officially received a new Mindray ultrasound device. The women's association Sunna in Ísafjarðardjúpi has had a hard time raising funds for the device, but in total the device costs over 10 million ISK. Among the sponsors was the Wolf Foundation, which contributed over three million ISK to the collection.
The receiver is of the most advanced type, has several heads (probes) that are useful for examining various parts of the body.
Álfhildur Jónsdóttir, Sunna's chairman, handed over the device, thanked for the cooperation with the collection and wished the organization all the best.
Director Gylfi Ólafsson thanked for the support, but free meetings are very important to the organization and show how positive the residents are towards the work that takes place here.
Súsanna Ástvaldsdóttir, doctor, presented the device, saying it was the most advanced and of great benefit to the work of doctors. Apart from the traditional examination of pregnant women, echocardiography, etc., resonance is increasingly used in the examination of organs during acute illnesses and serious accidents.
Sigríður Jónsdóttir, an employee of the organization and a great driving force behind the collection, can be seen in one of the photos enjoying coffee refreshments that were served on the table in the organization's dining room at Torfnes.
