With the introduction of the Dýrafjörður corridor, transportation between the northern and southern areas of Vestfjörður improves. The Vestfjörður Health Institute runs a research laboratory in Ísafjörður, but only the simplest tests are analyzed in Patreksfjörður. Samples from there are therefore sent to Landspítali by flight that leaves daily from Bíldudal. The cost of this is considerable, both the analyzes themselves and transportation, at the same time as there is excess capacity for analyzes at Ísafjörður.
The Vestfjörður Health Institute is therefore open to discussions with anyone who is or has the intention of starting regular trips from Patreksfjörður to Ísafjörður, with the possibility of sharing trips in mind.
Since this has resulted in a change in our working arrangements, the needs are not completely clear and could change as the project progresses. It seems to us that they are preferably these:
- The samples must be received on the same day, but it does not matter when within the day.
- The samples must be taken to the hospital in Patreksfjörður and delivered to the hospital in Ísafjörður.
- Trips must be at least once a week. It is not absolutely necessary that there are trips every week of the year. However, they would have to be at least 40 for a new procedure to gain a foothold and start paying off. It is important that there is predictability in which weeks trips are taken and when they are cancelled. We are fully aware that sometimes the weather and weather hinders trips.
- The trips must be on weekdays, and preferably always on the same day of the week.
- The samples come in boxes that are usually the size of a shoe box.
- A contract would be made for one year to begin with.
Get in touch before the end of November if this might coincide well with your travel plans or your company's.
