In the winter of 2025-2026, HPV vaccinations will be free of charge for boys in the 2008-2010 cohort. Vaccination against HPV has been carried out regardless of gender since the fall of 2023 at the age of 12, and the campaign will therefore be carried out in addition to the general vaccinations of the third cohort, which will receive HPV vaccination regardless of gender.

  • The 2010 class will receive an invitation to be vaccinated through health care this fall; in most schools, vaccinations will be given in 10th grade when vaccinations in 7th grade are complete. The detailed implementation plan for each school will be presented to guardians and students by health care, but will be in a very similar manner to other school vaccinations.
  • The 2008-2009 cohort will be offered vaccination later this winter. These cohorts have completed primary school and are independent in terms of health care. Providing information to these cohorts through the My Health Center pages is dependent on the boys having electronic ID cards and using Health Center themselves.
    • Health care in secondary schools is provided in a different way than in primary schools, but health care is involved in providing information about the campaign and vaccinations may be available in schools, which will then be introduced separately where appropriate.
    • Young men who are not in school are encouraged to monitor the website of the health care facility they are registered with and/or where they reside for announcements about how vaccinations will be administered there.

The health care system in each region will publish information about when HPV vaccinations will be offered at health centers for these cohorts and how bookings will be arranged, etc., once this has been decided, presumably before the end of the year.

The campaign is aimed at ensuring that as many individuals as possible receive the HPV vaccine, and therefore only boys born in 2008-2010 who have not received the HPV vaccine will be offered the vaccine free of charge.
