The Women's Association of Iceland has given the Vestfjörður Health Center a software called Milou.

A fetal heart rate monitor is a monitor that records the fetal heart rate in women during pregnancy and childbirth and also assesses the number and intensity of contractions with a pulse sensor.

The Milou software works in such a way that when a woman is placed in the registry, the information is saved in real time and experts at LSH and/or the hospital in Akureyri have access to the registry. They read it with a local midwife in real time and advise on next steps when in doubt. This is extremely important and increases the safety of birth places in rural areas.

On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Women's Association of Iceland in 2020, the association started with a project to give Milou to all birthplaces in the countryside.

We would like to thank the Icelandic Kenfélagsamband for this unique gift.
