Vaccination in the health district of Vestfjörður

Vaccination for Covid-19 will begin in the health district of Vestfjörður on December 30. The first shipments arrive at the Vestfjörður Health Institute in Ísafjörður and Patreksfjörður on December 29 and 30. It will start at the Bergi nursing home at 10 December 30., but that household was badly affected by the first wave of the epidemic in April. In the first round, all residents of the institution's nursing homes in Ísafjörður, Patreksfjörður, Bolungarvík and Þingeyri will be vaccinated, as well as doctors and nurses on the front line. Residents in Ísafjarðarbær's serviced apartments in Þingeyri also receive vaccines, but they share housing with residents of the nursing home. There are about 70 people in total.

 

A national plan for prioritization is followed both in this step and in the next steps, and there is a lot of consultation within the national health system in order to make the most of the available vaccine.
