The Maternity Department of the Vestfjörður Health Foundation received a good gift for Christmas when a new and complete delivery bed arrived in Ísafjörður. The new bed is a great benefit for both women giving birth and staff. It makes it easier for midwives to access the women, improves working conditions and leads to better physical activity of the staff. The bed then gives women more mobility and flexibility during childbirth with numerous adjustment options. The old bed was from the last century and both the bed and the mattress were worn out.
The Vestfjörður Health Foundation thanks all those who helped, but many non-profit organizations here in the northern part of the Vestfjörður participated in financing the purchase, many with very generous donations. It is a great strength for the staff and management of HVest to find the solidarity and goodwill that the local community shows to the organization.
