On Thursday, September 4, the Minister of Health, Alma D. Möller, visited the Westfjords Health Institute, accompanied by her assistant, Jón Magnús Kristjánsson. During the visit, she met with the executive board, Lúðvík Þorgeirsson, CEO, Elísabeta Samúelsdóttir, CFO, Erling Aspelund, Human Resources Manager, Hildur Elísabeta Pétursdóttir, Nursing Manager, and Súsanna Björga Ástvaldsdóttir, Medical Manager. After the meeting and breakfast, a tour of the institution in Ísafjörður, the infirmary, health care, and the Eyri nursing home was conducted. There, the Minister met many staff at work. After lunch, the Minister headed to Bolungarvík to the Berg nursing home. There, the Minister met with the head of the nursing home department for the northern region, Auður Helga Ólafsdóttir, and other staff at Berg, as well as residents there.
Visits like these are fun and important in creating space for conversation with managers and staff in their jobs. We thank the Minister and his assistant for the insight and hope that they enjoyed their visit to Vestur.
