He takes over from Hallgr\u00edm Kjartansson, who will remain the chief physician of the health care department at HVEST. Hallgr\u00edmur held that position along with the executive position, but left it in the hands of Mar\u00eda \u00d3lafsd\u00f3ttir, a primary care physician, who was hired for that position temporarily for 1 year, but is now leaving shortly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;\">Andri is well known to many here in the west, but he was a doctor at the health care department of HVEST in \u00cdsafj\u00f6r\u00f0ur in the years 2001-2003. He is a specialist in general surgery and has been working as such in Stavanger, Norway for the past 10 years, the last 2 years as chief physician. He will therefore work as a surgeon at HVEST during his executive position. The surgeries are a certain ballast in the services of HVEST and are a prerequisite for many other health services, such as births for example. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">General surgeons with extensive surgical experience are not everywhere, especially when considering the needs of a rural hospital.
