At an open house for benefactors of the hospital, \u00dalfssj\u00f3\u00f0ur, a memorial fund for \u00dalf Gunnarsson fv. chief physician FS\u00cd institute a new CT scanner.<\/p>\n

 In 2005, on September 5, a collection for CT equipment began at Fj\u00f6r\u00f0ungssy\u00fakrah\u00fasi\u00f0 in \u00cdsafj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, and it was organized by a close-knit group of individuals and organizations in the area.

The collection went well and on December 22 of the same year, more than 17 million had been collected from a number of associations, companies and individuals.

J\u00f3n Kristj\u00e1nsson, the then Minister of Health and Social Security, authorized the necessary works to be started immediately so that the device could be put to use as soon as possible.

On the 6th of May 2006, the installation of the device began, and on the 19th of June, CT scans were taken of the first two patients.
The CT scanner has come in handy, the first year it was used in research on 255 people, but it was only in use from June. The following year it was used for 376 people, 456 in 2008, but this year it was used for research on 265 people from January to July, but then it failed. A total of 1352 CT scans were performed on the 4-slice Toshiba device installed in 2006.

Once again, the benefactors of the institution started a collection, now under the banner of the Wolf Fund, which today is the main sponsor of the hospital when it comes to the renewal of devices and equipment.
