Rumor has it that she will even continue to come and play guitar for the old folks just to keep the crowd going.
Helga started working at the hospital at the age of 15. It was in 1955, and as she says herself, she was out drinking and the woman across the street felt sorry for her not having a job and told her to come the next morning to the kitchen at the old hospital. In 1962, she graduated as a nurse and started working here as such on November 2 of the same year, and has worked here ever since - although not as a nurse, but as a nurse and head of the Department of Surgery.
Ingibjörg started working at the old hospital in 1963, first as a maid and then as a nurse, who is a nurse today. In recent years, she worked in the hospital's emergency department.
When it is taken into account that these women were allowed to shrink on maternity leave as well as other "shrinks" to other fronts, their combined working hours at Fjörðungssjúkrahús and the Health Institute Ísafjörðurbær, later Vestfjörður, is 153 years. To put such a number of years in some context, it can be mentioned that in the history of health services in Ísafjörður, it is said that a doctor was first appointed in 1845, and it has been 164 years since then. So their years of service seem to be as long as the history of medical services in Ísafjörður.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
The staff of the organization thanks them for their cooperation and togetherness and bids them farewell with respect and gratitude.

Head.: UN

On December 10, the staff of the institution said goodbye to four honorable women whose combined years of service with the institution and its predecessor is a total of 153 years!
