On the 17th of August last, the ?Agreement on experimental projects on cognitive behavioral therapy in health centers?, between Landsp\u00edtala-University Hospital on the one hand and the \u00cdsafjar\u00f0arb\u00e6r Health Institute, the Eastern Health Institute and the Reykjav\u00edk Health Center on the other hand, was presented and signed in the organization's house presentations. <\/p>\n

Objectives of the agreement<\/b> is promoting specialized psychological services within healthcare and increasing the number of resources for patients with mental disorders. The aim of the agreement is to increase the knowledge of health care staff about mental health problems on the one hand and cognitive behavioral therapy on the other, through educational sessions. The agreement also aims to strengthen cooperation between the respective health centers and the psychiatric department of Landsp\u00edtala University Hospital with the aim of improving services for the mentally ill and preventing the consequences of mental illness, such as reduced quality of life and work capacity, isolation, suicide attempts and suicide.<\/o:p>

The service<\/b> as Landsp\u00edtali? The university hospital provides two types of services: First, the hospital undertakes to provide psychological services with cognitive behavioral therapy in clinics. The treatment consists of offering patients group therapy for anxiety and depression, with 15 to 25 patients in a group, from September 1, 2005. Second, the hospital staff will hold courses for health workers at the health centers on remedies for mental and cognitive health problems. behavioral therapy.<\/o:p>
