He graduated from Akureyri High School in 1986 and from there went to the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Helsinki, where he graduated in 1993. He then studied abroad and received specialist qualifications in general surgery in 2000 and in gastrointestinal surgery in 2004 in Bergen, Norway. He then completed his doctoral studies in June 2004. The doctoral project dealt with increased intra-abdominal pressure in connection with serious accidents and diseases. Fj\u00f6lnir also studied health management at Bergen Business School in Norway in 2002.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/font><\/div><div><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">Fj\u00f6lnir started work on September 1 last. on \u00cdsafj\u00f6r\u00f0ur.
