Covid-19 infection has been confirmed in Bolungarv\u00edk and more are suspected. The Vestfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Public Safety Commission has therefore decided, in consultation with the epidemiologist, the Public Safety Department of the National Police Commissioner and the school authorities to cancel classes at the middle and junior level (grades 5-10) at Bolungarv\u00edk Primary School. This response will be effective from tomorrow, April 1, 2020, and will remain in effect until further notice. All students and teachers at these levels must stay at home in processing quarantine while samples are analyzed. Those who are in processing quarantine must follow the same instructions as others who are in home quarantine. <\/p>\n

At this stage, there is no need for a complete ban on gatherings in Bolungarv\u00edk. However, there is reason to encourage people to stay at home, maintain social distancing, limit travel and otherwise follow the instructions of the authorities. Work is being done on infection tracing and the results of sampling are awaited. A number of individuals are already in quarantine.<\/p>\n

People who experience symptoms should stay at home and contact the Vestfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Health Institute on 450 4500. Samples are taken every weekday in \u00cdsafj\u00f6r\u00f0ur at 10 \u2013 11, but first you need to contact a doctor.<\/p>\n

Covid-19 infection has been confirmed in Bolungarv\u00edk and results from more tests are pending. The Local Crisis Coordination Center, in cooperation with the Chief Epidemiologist, Department of Civil Protection and Emergency Management and school authorities, has decided to suspend all school in grades 5 through 10 at the Bolungarv\u00edk primary school. This takes effect April 1st and is valid until further notice. All students and their teachers should stay at home in quarantine while the extent of infections is assessed.<\/p>\n

At this stage, no further formal restrictions will be imposed. However, we urge people to stay at home when possible, maintain social distance, limit travel and follow other instructions from the Directorate of Health. Health authorities are working on tracing possible infections. Results from more tests are awaited. A significant number of people are in quarantine and isolation already. <\/p>\n

People who feel symptoms should stay at home and contact the Westfjords Healthcare Institute on tel. 450 4500. Tests for Covid-19 are taken every day at Isafjordur at 10-11 o'clock, however, everyone needs to contact a doctor at the Westfjords Healthcare Institute first. <\/p>\n
