Residents of nursing homes and frontline workers in Vestfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur will be vaccinated today, about 70 people.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The first vaccination took place at Bergi in Bolungarv\u00edk at 10 this morning, December 30. Ester Hallgr\u00edmsd\u00f3ttir, a resident of Berg, received the first dose. In April, she escaped infection despite being surrounded by infected residents when the group infection occurred there. <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Fj\u00f3la Sigr\u00ed\u00f0ur Bjarnad\u00f3ttir, head of the nursing homes Eyrar, Bergs and Tjarnar, gave her the injection. Fj\u00f3la has been a nurse in Berg for years and led operations there in April. At the end of the year, Fj\u00f3la is retiring from the organization and moving to Gar\u00f0ab\u00e6r. <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Other residents of the institution's nursing homes in Tj\u00f6rn \u00e1 \u00deingeyri, Eyri \u00e1 \u00cdsafj\u00f6r\u00f0ur will be vaccinated today, as well as doctors and nurses in the front line of the health service. Vaccine has also been landed at the airport in B\u00edldudal, and residents in nursing facilities in Patreksfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur and frontline workers will be vaccinated today. A total of 70 doses will therefore be given. <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
