The assessment is standardized together with defined information from health and social services and the regional office for the disabled as well as medical letters from a doctor as appropriate. A skills and health assessment is also carried out for a temporary rest stay in a nursing home. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rest and rehabilitation admissions to the hospital in \u00cdsafj\u00f6r\u00f0ur are outside this system, and are applied for through a doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A special committee operates for each health district. Elsa Magn\u00fasd\u00f3ttir (elsa.magnusdottir@hvest.is), a home care nurse in \u00cdsafj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, is the committee&#039;s contact person in Vestfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The committee includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Elsa Magn\u00fasd\u00f3ttir, nurse at the Vestfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Health Center, chairperson<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Margr\u00e9t Geirsd\u00f3ttir welfare department of \u00cdsafjar\u00f0arb\u00e6r<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>J\u00f3n Eyj\u00f3lfur J\u00f3nsson, geriatrician at Landsp\u00edtala<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>As a general rule, it is assumed that no more than 5-6 weeks will pass from the time the committee receives a request for a skill and health assessment or a rest period until the result is known.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The result of the committee&#039;s assessment is announced in writing when it is available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An application form can be found at <a href=\"https:\/\/island.is\/faerni-og-heilsumat\">website of the National Medical Examiner&#039;s Office<\/a>.
